DENHAM TO CARNARVON - 13th to 30th SEPTEMBER 2015

Leaving Denham we headed up to Carnarvon for Ayla's birthday.

On the way we stopped at Wooramel River Retreat which had an artesian spa to relax in. This pool wasn't as hot as the one at the homestead so more enjoyable.

Then in the evening, dinner by the fire.

Near Carnarvon is a section of the Gascoyne river called Rocky Pool which always has water in it and is deep enough for a good swim.

I love the reflections in the water where we were using this rope swing to jump in.

Here we are at pizza night at the caravan park. You bring your own pizza down and they cooked it in the authentic pizza oven.

We left Carnarvon for a week to visit the Kennedy range about 50 kms east and stayed at the tiny town of Gascoyne Junction. Every night we watched a beautiful sunset from our caravan.

One of the walks we did at the Kennedy ranges through Temple Gorge. The temperature in the day hovers around 40.c and sadly there were no cool pools to swim in like other ranges in Western Australia.

At the end of Draper gorge there was one pool of stagnant smelly water which even in the intense heat still did not look inviting. I saw a large monitor lizard hanging around here.

Views along the beginning of the Kennedy ranges from Sunset Viewpoint.

Every time we drove back from our walks at the Kennedy ranges along the unsealed red and dusty 50 km road we stopped at this swimming spot on the Gascoyne river to cool off. Ayla loved swinging into the river using this rope swing.

Back in Carnarvon at the Wintersun caravan park the girls dressed up for spud night at the communal shed.

The girls having fun dancing with friends to the music from the travelling musician before our spud feast.

Steffi and myself at the camp spot we stayed at for a month 12 years ago when we were working in a Vineyard here in Carnarvon.

Steffi and I had fun playing bowls at the caravan park after a lesson from the local pro Barry.
